Two new signings and a 2-0 win have put a happier complexion on things at Walton Casuals – despite still being eight points adrift of Ryman Division One South safety, writes Kane Brooker.

Former Sutton United and Hampton & Richmond Borough striker Billy Dunn and ex-Tooting & Mitcham United and Kingstonian defender Jordan Cheadle switched to Waterside Drive in time to feature in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Chipstead.

The Stags remain rooted to the foot of the table, but Gale is hopeful his new men can have a lasting impact.

“Jordan has great experience at this level for a 24-year-old full back, but what he brings is good aerial presence, dynamic set pieces, and he can also defend,” said the manager.

“It was a big decision for him to leave Tooting & Mitcham United, but one I don’t think he’s going to regret.

“I look forward to seeing how the young lad develops. I hope he fulfils that tremendous potential he has.

“Billy has not worked out at other clubs, but one thing he has got, is the ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations.”

Casuals host Peacehaven & Telscombe in the FA Trophy first qualifying round tomorrow.
