Crystal Palace midfielder Jose Campana has ended a frustrating stay at Selhurst Park by signing for Italian Serie A outfit Sampdoria.

The Spanish U20 skipper signed last summer from Sevilla for £1.7m on a four-year deal, but the 21-year-old failed to hold down a place in the team and was loaned to Nuremburg in January.

At the time of signing for the Eagles, Campana said: "When I heard Crystal Palace were interested, straightaway I said 'yes' because for me it was a dream to play in England, especially in the Premier League.

"I hope to help the team stay in the league and then move forward."

It was not to be, as Campana made only six appearances in the blue and red.
