A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in Croydon.

Rijkaard Salu Siafa was found injured by emergency services in Fellmongers Yard at around 6pm on April 12.

Several members of the public attempted to provide first aid before police arrived but Rijkaard was pronounced dead shortly after.

A 34-year-old man was arrested today (April 19) at an address in Lambeth on suspicion of murder.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

A 20-year-old man was also previously arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

He has since been bailed pending further police enquiries to a date in mid-June.

A post-mortem examination which took place yesterday (April 18) gave Rijkaard’s cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

His family have been updated with this development and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Met's Specialist Crime Command leads the investigation and said: “While this arrest marks a significant development in our investigation, I am still appealing to anyone with information about Rijkaard’s murder to come forward.

“We have had a great response from the local community and I would like to thank those who have helped us so far.

“However, if you saw or know something that could assist I would urge you to get in touch immediately.”
