From engineers to restaurant owners, some Sutton-based businesses and workers have made it on the deliberate tax defaulters list.
Reports released by HM Revenue and Customers every three months 'name and shame' the businesses and individuals who have been caught filing incorrect tax reports across the country.
Many are ordered to pay penalties for either deliberately filing errors in their tax returns or deliberately failing to comply with tax obligations.
A telecoms engineer from Cressingham Grove was added to the March list.
Michael Joseph Sweeney received a penalty charge of £43,729.87 after £64,073.08 amount of tax or duty was called into question between April 6, 2019, and April 5, 2022
Mohammad Ali Saif, owner of the former Mango Lounge on 114 Stafford Road in Wallington, was identified in June 2023 as a deliberate tax defaulter.
The restaurant owner was hit with a £55,879.58 charge after the same amount of tax or duty was unaccounted for between April 6, 2020, and April 5, 2021.
