Two people were taken to hospital after a car crash where one of the vehicles smashed into the side of a building, hitting a gas meter cabinet in Richmond.
Police and paramedics arrived on scene at around 7.40pm yesterday (June 28) and found that a car had struck a building in Raleigh Road – reportedly the Premier Inn Hotel.
Three people had left the vehicles before the fire brigade arrived on scene and two women were taken to hospital.
One car had hit a gas meter cabinet on the external wall of a building, which caused precautionary evacuations to be carried out in the area.
The gas board was also called to the scene due to concerns of a leak and London Fire Brigade made the area safe, leaving the scene at 9.27pm.
No arrests were made following the incident.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Lower Mortlake Road in Richmond yesterday.
“Crews made the scene safe after two cars were in collision resulting in one car colliding with a gas metre cabinet on the external wall of a building.
“Three people left the vehicles before the Brigade arrived. Two women were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
“The Brigade was called at 7.41pm and the incident was over for firefighters by 9.27pm.
“Two fire engines from Richmond and Chiswick fire stations attended the scene.”
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called by LAS at 7.39pm on 27 June after a car struck a building in Raleigh Road, Richmond.
“No reports of any serious injuries or arrests.
“LFB and the gas board were called due to a suspected gas leak. Some evacuations were carried out as a precaution.”
