A woman has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after being stabbed at a home in Croydon.

Police are now asking for witnesses and information after the violent attack.

The police were called to a property on Grenaby Avenue at around 2pm on Friday, June 9.

A 29-year-old woman was found with stab wounds and provided first aid before the ambulance arrived.

The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were called to the scene, and the woman was taken to a south London hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Her family has been informed of the situation, and a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

A 23-year-old woman who was in the home was treated for a minor injury.

Police have said that the man is known to both the women.

A crime scene is still in place and investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances, and police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward by contacting them quoting crime reference number CAD 4200/09Ju.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a woman was violently attacked in Croydon.

“Police were called shortly before 2pm on Friday, 9 June, to reports of a disturbance at a residential address in Grenaby Avenue, Croydon.

“Officers attended and found a 29-year-old woman suffering from stab injuries. They immediately provided first aid.

“The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended. The woman was taken to a south London hospital where she remains in a critical condition. Her family has been informed.

“A second woman, aged 23, was treated for a minor injury.

“A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.

“A crime scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

“The man arrested is known to the two women.
