Beer lovers and cider fanatics descended on a New Malden pub to sample the area’s best ales and to raise money for charity.
Woodies Freehouse, in Thetford Road, hosted its 12th annual beer festival last weekend, with more than 60 real ales and traditional ciders on offer.
The three-day festival was to raise money for Kingston based charities including the Kingston City Farm & Animal Rescue and Kingston Hospital’s Dementia Awareness.
Michael Edmundson, took up the task of organising the popular festival from previous manager Linda Thompson-Jones, having only managed Woodies Freehouse for about four weeks.
He said: “It was all a bit new for us. It’s been brilliant, it’s certainly unique here. Even though the weather wasn’t great we weren’t far off last year’s target.
“It went very well. It just gets bigger and better every year, we’ve already got some plans for next year with some big bands.
“You get all your real ale drinkers, the CAMRA lot were down here.”
Over the course of the weekend about 1,000 to 1,200 people attended.
Live music was also provided throughout the weekend, alongside a traditional BBQ and Sunday carvery.
