So how have you been for the past two weeks? Hot, sweaty and happy? Here’s hoping, as my family and I have had a glorious time, enjoying the weather and generally doing quite a few different things.

We had a night out bowling with friends in Tolworth – I came last in both games, for your information.

I had my first experience at an auction house and even had a few fun family trips around the country.

I know it is said all the time, but the weather really does make a difference, especially when you are filming outdoors like I was this week.

I was at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, which you may have seen on The One Show. I have worked there a number of times now and love it as it has one of best vantage points to overlook London, as well as giving you the chance to stand on the world famous meridian line. It is also the home of time.

The reason for my being there last Wednesday was an important day as an extra second was added to the day. Now you may not think a lot can happen in a second, but you would be surprised.

Six babies are born every second. Bees beat their wings 270 times every second. And you can fall in love in a fifth of a second – though my husband would argue it took much longer for me to realise he was the best thing since sliced bread.

So there is the proof that every second counts and it made me think about how I could use my time more wisely.

I would love to read more, practice my cello or even get some more sleep. My other half told me he was going to pick up a dictionary and learn a new word with his extra second.

I am yet to see him pick up the Oxford English dictionary.

The truth is that time is unequivocally precious. So, whether it is a second or an hour, how are you going to use yours?
