Budding photographers could win a voucher worth £600 as part of a project to capture the river Wandle.

Winning photographs will make up a digital archive of images and feature in an online exhibition on the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust (WVRPT) website.

Judges are looking for photographs that capture what the Wandle Valley means to people, not just the river and its wildlife, but architecture, industry, people, pastimes and even things they think need improvement.

The first prize is a £600 digital camera voucher donated by competition sponsors Cubiquity Media.

There are four categories to enter, each representing a key aspect of the valley’s rich diversity: Natural Wandle, Urban Wandle, Wandle Folk and Working Wandle.

The competition is open to amateur photographers of any age, living or working in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Sutton, Merton and Croydon and it has been organised by teams from the Wandle Valley Forum (WVF), Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust (WVRPT) and Living Wandle Landscape Partnership (LWLP).

The competition helps to mark the WVF’s 10th anniversary this year.

Rebecca Watts from LWLP said: "We’re very excited about the competition, we’ve already seen the standard of photos on websites such as Flickr and we’re sure Wandle lovers will inject that extra bit of something into their work."

The winning images will be used on the new WVRP website and in its digital archive; the overall winner will be used on the website homepage.

There is plenty of time for entries to be submitted. The closing date is midnight on October 16 this year. Finalists will be informed after by email and the awards will be given out at the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust board AGM on December 10.
