A butcher who made the finals of national awards is holding the grand opening of his second shop in Coulsdon tonight

Bashford & Co Traditional Family Butchers, run by Kenneth Bashford, hopes to lead the revival of the butcher industry in south London.

The new shop, located at 136 Brighton Road, will give away free hog roast baps and roughly 200 pints of Western Brewery ale from 7pm to 10pm.

He said: “My aim is to bring the butchers shop back to the high street.

“Coulsdon is an up-and-coming area and I’m excited for what this new shop will bring.”

After a successful first week in Coulsdon, roughly 400 people are expected to attend the event.

Mr Bashford’s first butchery, in Elmfield Way, has only been in trade for just over year and he already has his sights set on a third shop to open in Wimbledon Village next Easter.

Mr Bashford also has plans to develop an app in the new year which he describes as being like Amazon but for meat.
