A new community garden in Molesey has won £1,000 of funding.

The Friends of Molesey Centre became the first winners of Crown Simmons Housing’s Iris Simmons Community Award.

The money will create a new accessible and dementia-friendly art garden in West Molesey.

It will benefit a variety of people from the community once the currently unused space is transformed.

Jane Pritchard, manager at the Molesey Centre, said: "We cannot express our appreciation enough, we know that many local groups will enjoy working on the garden while it is being established and then will enjoy walking, pottering around the raised beds or just sitting and chatting in the beauty that will surround them."
