A brewery earmarked for closure next year will have four tanks removed and taken to another location more than 120 miles away.

The Stag Brewery in Mortlake, which produces Budweiser beer, is owned by AB InBev UK, which also owns breweries in Magor in south Wales and Samlesbury in Lancashire.

Earlier this month, Laura Vallis, director of corporate affairs at AB InBev, announced a series of investments to expand UK brewing capacity, including the installation of a new pasteuriser and other improvements at the south Wales brewery.

As part of the project, four tanks which are surplus to the current capacity needs at the Mortlake brewery will be relocated to the Magor brewery.

In a letter, Ms Vallis said the changes were made to support future growth needs for AB InBev’s UK and Ireland business.

The brewery in Lower Richmond Road will remain open until at least the end of 2015.
